3 Updates/Theories About Previous Cases (Brittanee Drexel, Judy Smith, Russell Hill & Carol Clay)

If you’re a regular viewer of the channel, then you’ll likely know that in the past Luke and I have made numerous references to our fondness for the classic true crime television series Unsolved Mysteries. If you grew up watching the show like us, then you know that there’s so much about it that is truly iconic, but one of the things that we’ve been thinking about in particular lately have been the updates. These came at the end of re-run segments, and included any new info that had been uncovered about the case since the time that it first aired. Sometimes these were announcements that a particular story had been solved, but many more times they were simply extra tidbits of information that the Unsolved Mysteries team hoped would help to generate more leads, such as an updated artist rendering of a suspect, or a new theory about an investigation. The whole thing was of course, made all the better by the iconic voice of host Robert Stack. You’d hear the word “Update” at the end of the segment, usually followed by the place where it happened, like “Mobile, Alabama,” and instantly be on the edge of your seat. It got us thinking — what if we started doing a little “update” thing of our own?

For awhile, a bunch of you have been asking us in the comments section for updates on old cases, asking us if there’s been any progress, or about specific details we didn’t have time to dig into, or simply didn’t think about at the time. We’ve been thinking about the best way to address this, and this week thought we’d try something new — specifically, a whole video dedicated to covering updates from a few past cases, plus a few other little extras. Right now we’re looking at this as a bit of a one-off, an experiment to see if this is something you all are interested in. So be sure to share your thoughts in the comments section below and let us know if you find this kind of thing interesting and valuable. Depending on the feedback we get we’ll consider doing more in the future. Just a side note, we’ve included summaries each of the cases before each update, but we’ll also include links to the original videos in the description below if you want to see more detailed coverage.
