While there are many reasons someone might want to fake their own death, from escaping an unhappy life, to fraudulently collecting life insurance, to even playing a macabre practical joke, it turns out that one of the most common reasons for doing so is to avoid going to jail. While these attempts are often unsuccessful, they are nonetheless usually interesting, so we decided to devote this week’s list to a few examples that stood out to us in particular.
